Last week, His Excellency, Archbishop Boulos Matar, Bishop of Beirut, visited Los Angeles to launch his Mary Mother of Wisdom, Sagesse Foundation.
The foundation is dedicated to the education of underprivileged children in Lebanon.
In honor of His Excellency’s visit, Father Elias Sleiman, M.L.M., Rector of Our Lady of Mount Lebanon, Saint Peter Cathedral, hosted a dinner on Thursday, November 16 at Il Cielo Restaurant in Beverly Hills to welcome His Excellency and the delegation that accompanied him from Lebanon, the delegation included Fr. Also were invited Mr. Joe Karaki (President) and Ms. Amira Matar (Treasurer).
Several couples from the Cathedral Community were invited to the dinner, and it was an excellent opportunity for them to welcome His Excellency and find out more information about the Foundation and His Excellency’s other charitable causes.
The Very Reverend Elias Sleiman welcomed, on behalf of his Excellency bishop Elias Zaidan, Fr Albert Constantine, and the Cathedral Community, his Excellency and the delegation in opening remarks that highlighted The Archbishop’s many accomplishments, and introduced him to those in attendance and assured His Excellency of the entire Cathedral Community’s readiness to support his great undertaking.
Father Sleiman’s remarks emphasized the role that the Sagesse schools and university have played in the education of many Lebanese since the 1800’s and His Excellency’s pivotal role in their more recent success.
Archbishop Matar thanked Father Sleiman and the entire Cathedral Community and expressed his gratitude for the very warm welcome he and the delegation received from Father Sleiman and the entire community.
